MASSIVE I-80 / FOOTHILL CONSTRUCTION SHOULD CHANGE YOUR SUMMER DRIVING HABITS

SALT LAKE CITY.  Last Saturday’s traffic jams are set to reoccur this weekend, and will be even more disruptive.

If you usually hop onto I-215 to I-80 to get to Sugarhouse or downtown, you need to make alternate plans. Westbound I-215 is closed this weekend (Fri 9 pm to Mon 5 am). If you want to go west on I-80, you’ll be detoured into Parleys Canyon heading east, and make a U turn at Exit 2 to head west back down the canyon.

That likely means large increases in traffic on local roads throughout Millcreek, as everyone hunts alternate routes. We suggest you avoid the 33rd South and I-215 area altogether. Last weekend, traffic backed up for miles along Wasatch Blvd, 33rd South, I-215 and I-80.
