Start-up activities

The Millcreek code of ordinances went into effect on December 28, 2016, the day we incorporated.

After a public hearing on January 9th, the City Council adopted a budget for the first six months of 2017. The revenue and expense estimates are based on general information obtained from the County, the State Tax Commission, and UDOT, as well as other general assumptions made on expectations and estimations. The estimates  are based on the best information available but lack the verification that several years of experience would bring. The City has entered into a contract with DS Accounting Services to help us set up the books and begin setting up subcategories in the budget.

At recent meetings, the City Council adopted the same 1% local option sales tax and 1% transient room tax that the County currently collects.  These are not tax increases, but merely a mechanism to shift the funds from the County to the City.

Above-freezing weather is required for completion of final 23rd East improvement project items.  Look for those in late February or March.  The project team at the County posts 2300 East construction updates here.

The Salt Lake County Council approved an advance of $100,000 toward Millcreek’s start-up funds.  Mayor Silvestrini is working with the County for further start-up funding.
